The story of Leah Rudolph is one of strength, courage, and perseverance. A descendant of the Ojibwe people, Leah grew up on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota. An educated mother of three, her priority was to provide a safe and stable home for her children, so she worked hard to earn her Paralegal Certificate from Globe University and began her career as a legal case manager.
Leah became a mother when she adopted a two-year-old little girl named, Julianna, whose biological mother could no longer care for her. She then had two more children, her son, Duwayne and daughter, Beyah, and focused her life around her three children while their father worked.
Leah and her family lived in Mexico and were happy working on their ranch and caring for livestock. Then tragedy struck. Leah’s partner and father of her children, mysteriously disappeared, and she was left confused and alone with no answers and no one to turn to.
Hoping for a new start, Leah moved her family to Las Vegas and was able to provide the essentials for herself and her family. However, Leah’s living situation became unlivable as her apartment was neglected by her landlord and plagued by infestations. This dire condition led Leah to worry about her children’s health and safety.
But despite every hardship, Leah remained determined to achieve her goal of finding a safe and stable home for her family. She applied for homeownership through Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas in 2022, and even after she was not selected, she did not hesitate to try again. The following year, she was successful.
Becoming a homeowner is the fresh start Leah has longed for and it will allow her to give her children the life she wants and watch as they grow up in a community where everyone works together. Thanks to her fighting spirit, and a little help from Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas, she was finally able to achieve her goal and provide a stable home for her family.
